MMOFPS in development: Versus

Stephen Zepp of Garage Games, also a frequent reader and poster of F13, stopped by this thread about Planetside to remark on an indie development effort called Versus.

I'm always a fan of any team that wants to extend the MMOFPS genre of titles all but started by SOE's Planetside.

Versus appears to be an iteration of Planetside in both theme and feel. Of course, that's no surprise given Stephen's comment:

For people that like the idea, but don't like the execution, you may want to check out Versus. It's an indie group looking to make a "new" MMOFPS, led by some diehard PS fans that don't like Sony's idea of balance and design.

As such, there is not much solid information yet, and I am notoriously skeptical of anything I cannot install on my computer. But like Huxley and Control Monger", I will track the development of Versus to see if my old hope for the Rise of the MMOFPS will become reality.

So far, there's been an auspicious start. Planetside is great but enjoyed by extremely few, Neocron is interesting but in a similar situation, and Endless Ages has been largely panned by everyone.
