Given the popularity of Final Fantasy XI, I've long wondered how much of the playerbase was playing in Japan vs the U.S.
I think there might be some insights available. And other data being reported potentially unlocks even more discussion, thus making this part 2 of a series I didn't even know I was starting.

Gamasutra has an article up about the data mining Valve has been doing through their Steam service.
While the article is called "Steam Stats Surprise Over Episodic Content", there's something else I found more curious.

Over at Grimwell, SirBruce posted the launch of the MMOG Magazine #3 website. Having talked about this back in March, I had some further thoughts on whether there was actually any need for an MMOG Magazine for a publisher to fill.
I think I may have something.

In a recent thread over at Grimwell Online, Morgan posted a link to the updated MMOGchart, SirBruce's ongoing effort to track the number of subscriptions in as many MMOGs for which he can get numbers.
I have a lot of respect for this effort, particularly as it is one of the mainstays of the genre now, having been around for so long. However, I have long questioned the value of the comparisons made within his program, and decided now was a good a time as any to discuss it.

At Zonk's blog and Terra Nova Blogs, I saw mention of an upcoming magazine dedicated to MMOGs, coming this September.
I didn't care the first nor second time such attempts happened either.
